April 2016: ICT Update 82 on “Drones for Agriculture” was published | A ground-breaking legacy

Drone technology could help farmers around the world monitor their crops, fend off pests, improve land tenure, and more. But to realise its full potential, regulatory regimes are necessary, while keeping citizens’ safety
and privacy rights secure“, this is how the editorial of ICT Update, a bimonthly magazine published by CTA, introduced the issue.

Four years have passed and we can celebrate change and achievements and the words ‘could help farmers‘ should now read ‘is helping farmers‘. Interestingly some of the authors of the various articles have gone far, and set up successful businesses.

Still, it is worth reading the the stories the researchers gathered at that time, to celebrate the front-runners, the drivers of change.
